Lyft BayWheels Isn’t Even Trying Anymore: A Sea of 70-Something Unpopular, Obsolete, Heavy, Non-Powered Rental Bikes, Most of Which Can’t Even Be Used – Massive Chains/Locks to Prevent Theft on Theft-Prone Market

Here ya go, the Lunch Rush. Cue the crickets:

Absolutely every carrel was filled, plus you had massive locks like these…

…protecting a bunch of the non-powered rentals, the ones proving so unpopular with locals in hilly Frisco. What’s the point of this?

I’ll tell you, Lyft does have non-obsolete UBER JUMP!-style powered bikes, and there were about five of them in the photo up top, but two issues: 1) they are vastly outnumbered by the FordGoBike-style bikes meant for flatter environs, and 2) the relatively few BayWheels members remaining, the ones who made it through Lyft BayWheels numerous issues last year, will soon have to pay a powered bike surcharge each and every time they check out the new-style black and pink rides.

(Why on Gaia’s Green Earth would somebody prefer the obsolete models over the powered 2020 versions? Lyft should pay you to ride these beasts about town.)

And actually, I don’t think Lyft cares if it makes money off of this program or not.

What’s that, at least UBER is better than Lyft? Well, no it’s not. Fundamentally, they’re the same. They’re both garbage companies.

Just seems a big waste…
